Google AMP, what is it?

The HTML code of an AMP page offers the advantage of containing a reduced number of lines. The result? Easier execution, pages whose weight is reduced, and therefore loading ten times faster than pages with traditional HTML code.

As for the JavaScript in AMP pages and WordPress AMP, it is optimized to minimize its use when viewed on mobile devices. This further speeds up execution and thus the loading time of web pages. Finally, the Google Cache stores the constructed page and displays it among the results in the SERPs (depending on the query).

It should be noted that an AMP page does not display CSS styles, as they are disabled. The AMP format only keeps the bare essentials: images, audio, calls to action, buttons, links, etc.

In its early days, Google AMP appealed there are several ways in which these algorithms can be used much more to media sites, which needed to offer the best in immediacy given the unique nature of their industry.

Moz conducted a study that highlighted the increase in organic traffic for Thrillist after implementing the AMP format on several of its chile business directory pages. The same observation was made for two other media sites as well, which we’ll call Media 2 and Media 3. For Thrillist, Media 2, and Media 3, the traffic growth percentages were +70%, +67%, and +30%, respectively. Pretty interesting!

If we can deduce anything from this, it’s that AMP and SEO are closely linked. AMP indirectly influences the ranking of web pages: AMP content is valued much more by Google.
